Greetings from the liminal space. More than half of the planet has crossed the threshold into 2026 and I’m writing to you from easetrn standard time as twilight dresses the woods in moon shine. Before the whole world turns over into a common 2026, I want to say thank you!
Thank you for riding with me through creative beginnings and endings and this first year of bringing dìẹ̀dìẹ̀ to life on the land through the question/experiment: what does it take to steward community-scale textile production. The answer is complex and incomplete but one thing is for sure, it requires people and so many of you came!
2025 was the land of plenty. With your support, I established a textile farm and practice studio! I hosted 4 natural dyeing workshops and countless farm and fiber processing days, I went home to Nigeria and traveled the North to learn how the textile supply chain there works, I learned how to use a comptuerized loom and wove over 10 yeards of keffiyeh-inspired cloth in solidarity withPalestine, I launched my oyster-based lime powder, and grew over 300lbs of indigo, 100lbs of flax, while the deer dined on the jute for the season. I did a lot of stumbling, crying, crafting, weaving, reaching, laughing, farming, teaching, learning, grouping, engineering, and evolving as I learned how to meet the expctations of the land, the cloth, my relationships, and this great mystery holding us together. So much happened and didn’t happen and I feel grateful for it all. I am the learning curve becoming a circle, a spiral that continues to deepen my love for community-held, land-based craft practice.
Thank you for your orders, your donations, your attention and showing up, your encouragement and manual labor, your praise and presence, your sweat, sweetness and curiousity. It is the matrix of your love that keeps me enthusiastic and energized!
